Cannes Film Festival 72nd edition

For this 72nd edition, the Cannes Film Festival has decided to pay tribute to Agnès Varda.
In fact, on this new poster we see the famous director filming her first film in 1954 then aged 25.

The filmmaker, who has thirteen films in official selection, was also a member of the jury in 2005, president of the jury of the Golden Camera in 2013 and was awarded the “Palme d’honneur” in 2015.

Disappeared on March 19, Agnès Varda is the inspiring light of this 72nd edition of the Cannes, which will open on May 14th.
 The announcement of the official selection, unveiled on Thursday, presents 19 films in competition for the “Palme d’Or” which will be awarded by a jury chaired this year by the Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu.
Among the selection, 4 are made by a woman, including a first film “Atlantiques” Mati Diop.
Alongside the prestigious regulars, the brothers Dardenne and Ken Loach will be in compétition for a  The first “Palme d’Or,” while some newcomers will know their first baptism of fire.
A total, fifty films are now enrolled in the official selection that should extend until the first day of the Cannes Film Festival.
